1. Happy Assisted Living Week!
It's that time of year again! The 12th annual National Assisted Living Week is this week, September 10-16. "Hearts in Harmony" is the theme this year, illustrating the partnership between providers, caregivers and residents in making our facilities feel like home. NALW is presented by all the major national long-term care organizations, including the Assisted Living Federation of America. More resources are available online at the NALW website.
2. Managed Care Seminar Oct. 20 in Wisconsin Dells
With the statewide expansion of Family Care moving forward, managed care is coming to your doorstep. This promises to be the biggest change to long-term care funding in Wisconsin's history, and there is much for providers to learn. Join WALA in Wisconsin Dells as we present The Future of Funding: Managed Care, a full-day seminar featuring state officials and business experts who will educate you on this coming revolution in LTC funding.
The Future of Funding will be held on Friday, October 20 at the Wintergreen Resort in Wisconsin Dells. Registration is $120 for WALA members and $170 for non-members through October 6. Providers north of Highway 10 will receive an extra 10% discount. For more information or to register, contact WALA at 608/288-0246 or visit the Events page on our website.
3. New Draft of HFS 83 Released
The Bureau of Quality Assurance has released a new draft of the proposed HFS 83. This version was prepared by the DHFS Office of Legal Counsel as part of the rewrite process. Changes in this newest version are largely stylistic, eliminating redundant or contradictory definitions and streamlining section numbering. Substantive changes have been minimal. The new draft can be viewed on the Industry Insider page of our website.
