Dealing with Challenging Behaviors

for the Intellectually Disabled

Working with difficult, demanding, and disruptive residents is not a new challenge in the assisted living environment. Even well- seasoned providers can sometimes get their “feathers ruffled” by some residents in some situations. This half-day session is intended to provide support, direction, and understanding to providers who are serving individuals with behavior concerns due to developmental disabilities or mental health issues.  This session will assist providers in understanding why behaviors occur and common triggers as well as developing a person-centered approach, conducting a throughout evaluation and how to be proactive in preventing behaviors from occurring through education and staff training.

This four and a half hour training seminar will cover topics such as:

  • Quality of Life
  • Understanding Behaviors
  • Common Behaviors
  • Approaches
  • Staff Training
