Three Wisconsin Family Care managed care organizations -Community Care Connections of Wisconsin (CCCW), ContinuUs, and Western Wisconsin Cares (WWC) - announced today their intent to merge as of January 1, 2017.
According to the news announcement, the merger was prompted by a larger movement toward privatization of the market and increased competition within the long-term care industry.
The three MCOs crafted a joint business proposal and allied management agreement earlier this year. The proposed merger was signed off by the Wisconsin Office of the Commissioner of Insurance in May, in consultation with the Wisconsin Department of Health Services.
The yet-unnamed merged organization will provide long-term care services and supports to about 15,000 Family Care members across 46 counties and employ approximately 1,100 people.
