As a provider of an AFH, CBRF or RCAC you want to deliver the assisted living experience that was presented during the tour or pre-admission assessment. You are also aware that other complications can and will arise after the resident has made your community their home. Outside influencers, such as families, guardians, and other parties may introduce additional complexities for you and your care team.

Today’s assisted living professional knows that for a wide range of reasons not every relevant detail of a prospective resident’s history is known upfront. Are you taking a positive proactive approach to your admissions or are you caught in a reactive cycle? Do you have a process in place to provide and promote optimal care for potentially difficult situations? Learn how to equip your team for the challenge; whether it be with the resident themselves or external parties. This content rich, one-day intensive will lead you towards practices that help you take control of your admissions. Your team and most importantly your resident will benefit.

Course Topics:

  • Defining who you are as a provider – are you the right setting for prospective resident?
  • Why it matters to know what you can or can not deliver prior to an admission
  • Pre-admission assessment – doing the right thing: census vs resident compatibility
  • Know your risks – definitions, program statements, assessments, long term reputation
  • Regulatory expectations and resources
  • Effective, resident and family centered communication
  • Change in condition: physical, emotional, safety and other factors
  • Communicating change – working with challenging family expectations and other parties
  • Resident centered discharges
  • Approaching admissions in a proactive light vs reactive manner
