WALA Continues to Advocate for You: URGENT Update for COVID-19 testing

Through our continuing discussions with the Department of Health Services (DHS) leadership, assisted living facilities that are able to obtain a prescribing order from a physician and employ or contract with a nurse (RN or LPN) who can administer testing are now eligible to receive COVID-19 testing supplies from the state of Wisconsin.

There is no cost for the testing supplies. Supplies can be used to test residents and employees. Assisted living facilities must work with Exact Sciences Laboratories on processing tests.

This is completely voluntary and a resident or employee can refuse to be tested.

If you are interested in receiving testing supplies, please follow the link to covid19supplies.wi.gov/testing and fill out the requested information.

You must specify in your request that you are an assisted living facility and you will work with Exact Sciences Laboratories as the clinical laboratory that will perform testing of specimens collected.

Please note these are the nasal swab tests which are less intrusive. You can also request training on administering the tests by indicating that in the Notes section at covid19supplies.wi.gov/testing

In addition, you cannot bill Medicaid or Medicare for the testing since they are being provided to you free-of-charge by the state of Wisconsin.
