Position Title: Direct Support Staff/Caregiver

Job Summary:

Direct Support Staff/Caregivers play a crucial role in ensuring the well-being and quality of life for individuals residing in an Adult Family Home. They provide assistance, guidance, and support to residents with daily living activities and help them achieve a level of independence.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Personal Care:
    • Assist residents with activities of daily living, including bathing, grooming, dressing, and toileting.
    • Provide support for mobility and help with transfers if needed.
  • Medication Management:
    • Administer medications as prescribed, ensuring compliance with healthcare plans.
    • Monitor and document any side effects or changes in residents' health.
  • Supportive Services:
    • Engage residents in meaningful activities to promote socialization and recreational participation.
    • Assist with meal preparation and ensure dietary needs are met.
  • Health Monitoring:
    • Observe and report any changes in residents' health or behavior to the appropriate healthcare professionals.
    • Follow protocols for emergency situations and provide first aid when necessary.
  • Documentation:
    • Maintain accurate and up-to-date records of residents' care, progress, and any incidents.
    • Complete required documentation for regulatory compliance.
  • Communication:
    • Collaborate with other staff members, healthcare professionals, and family members to ensure comprehensive care.

 

    • Communicate effectively with residents to understand their needs and preferences.

  • Safety and Environment:
    • Ensure a safe and clean living environment for residents.
    • Follow safety protocols and participate in training related to emergency procedures.
  • Advocacy:
    • Advocate for the rights and preferences of residents, respecting their dignity and promoting independence.

Qualifications:

  • High School Diploma or equivalent.
  • Previous experience in a similar role or relevant training is preferred.
  • CPR and First Aid certification may be required.
  • Ability to show empathy, patience, and compassion.

  • Ability to work collaboratively as part of a team.
