State Budget Public Hearings

Legislative,

State budget public hearings

April 2025

Members of the public will be able to provide comments and input on the 2025-27 state budget during public hearings at four locations throughout the state in April.

Unless the state legislature acts to maintain funding levels of Wisconsin’s Medicaid Family Care program, it’s very possible seniors in need of long-term care services like assisted living will find fewer options in their communities.

Without maintaining current funding levels, assisted living facilities will not be able to provide competitive wages for caregivers that in turn will lead to understaffed facilities and operators faced with a choice of either closing their doors or leaving the Family Care program altogether.

Public hearings on the state budget are scheduled for:

Friday, April 4, 2025

Wisconsin State Fair Park, Exposition Center

640 South 84th Street

West Allis, WI 53214

Parking at Gate 4

Monday, April 28, 2025

Hayward High School Auditorium

10320 Greenwood Lane

Hayward, WI 54843

Tuesday, April 29, 2025

Northcentral Technical College-Center for Health Sciences

1000 W. Campus Dr.

Wausau, WI 54401

The hearings will begin at 10 a.m. and conclude at 5 p.m. Attendees will be asked to fill out a form upon arrival to be added to the queue to testify.

For those who are unable to attend, there is an online portal for constituents to provide input in writing. All entries will be circulated to the full committee: https://legis.wisconsin.gov/topics/budgetcomments/

Additionally, a dedicated email address for input only: budget.comments@legis.wisconsin.gov is available and all emails will be circulated to the full committee.

Please consider expressing your support for maintaining Family Care funding in the 2025-27 state budget bill.
